TipfulTuesday: What you need to know about a First Look!

The First Look has become a very popular moment on wedding days, where couples are taking the time to see each other before the ceremony and capture that moment when the groom finally gets to see his bride in her dress.   Here are a few tips on how to make your First Look extra special.

Make the moment private!  Take this time for just the bride and groom to let them have their private and special moment.   You don’t want to have family members and friends making comments and trying to step in and telling you or the photographer what to do and capture.  Make the First Look a moment just for you two!

Trust your photographer to capture the moment and to get all of the best shots!   This is their job and you need to trust them to capture every moment and get all of those special shots!

Having a First Look helps to knock out all of those photos that feel rushed and take away from the time between the ceremony and reception.  With a First Look, bridal party photos, family photos and bride and groom photos can all be complete before the ceremony even begins.  There also is more time to not have to rush and miss some of the photos you really wanted to capture!

We hope this information helps you decide between having a First Look or not and to be prepared when the time comes! Follow us on Facebook @SarabethEvents or Instagram @SarabethEvents.

Let the guys add the American flag hidden in their outfit for the perfect touch! We loved these cuff links or socks!

Bold red or navy dresses add a nice classic touch to the ladies.

Who doesn’t love cherries! We love this display used for the escort cards table.

Monochromatic colors schemes of white or red for floral with hints of blue in the tables details such as linen or water goblet will help create for dramatic look and can help play to a rustic or elegant themed wedding.

For the true American at heart, a wedding shouldn’t be missing these countries favorites! Have a pie bar for dessert or in place of the grooms cake! Apple pie is a must but bring in other favorites too! Also a fun midnight snack with hot dogs or corn dogs is the perfect little pick me before the night ends!

And to end the night with a big bang, why not have a fireworks display or enjoy a send off with sparklers or the American flag itself!

#TipfulTuesday: Keeping A Fresh Face On Your Wedding Day

Summer in Texas…need we say more? We went straight to one of our favorite makeup artists, Jennifer Trotter with Lip Service Makeup, to get the inside scoop on how she keeps our brides faces looking fresh and melt-proof while beating the heat! Here are her 5 must haves for any bride or bridesmaid to keep in their clutch for the wedding day.

Makeup forever aqua brow

Waterproof brow gel – Necessary when temps rise…you don’t want to accidentally wipe off your perfect arches! Apply Makeup Forever’s Aquabrow in short, hair-like strokes with a small angled brush for the most natural effect that won’t budge in the heat.

Satin lipstick in a summery shade – When it’s really hot and your skin already has a natural flush, a shiny gloss can make you look…sweaty. Try a satin formula instead…they’re creamy, long-lasting, but not too heavy or shiny…perfect for any bride. A pink/coral shade like Mac’s “The Fashion Flock” is perfect for warm weather months!

urban decay all nighter

Refreshing Setting Spray – Don’t skip setting spray! This final step will lock everything into place and help it last all night long. Try a liberal misting of Urban Decay’s “All-Nighter” to set your look and control oil.

Blotting is Key – With a full face of makeup and rising temps, an oily T-zone can be a problem. Instead of adding powder on top, which can look cakey….blot excess oil with blotting sheets. Press Clean and Clear sheets lightly onto skin…they’ll pick up the oil, without disturbing your makeup underneath. (If you haven’t used these before…trust me, they’re a game changer!)

q-tips

In case of smudging….stash a Q-tip or two in your bridal bag. Not only are they great at absorbing a few happy tears, they’re the easiest and most precise way to fix any mascara or eyeliner if it should run a bit. They’re smaller and more effective than a tissue!

Jennifer Trotter In Action

Of course last but certainly not least is to definitely have a professional makeup artist on hand to run the show when it comes to getting your face dolled up! It doesn’t hurt to have them booked for additional hours incase you have an outdoor ceremony or are taking pictures outside so they are able to do last minute touch ups!

It’s the morning of your wedding and you’re gearing up to walk down the aisle!! Of course before you do, here are a few tips to start off your day!

  • Don’t skip breakfast! It’s so easy to want to jump into your wedding itinerary, but make sure you take a moment to take care of your appetite! And that goes for lunch too!
  • Stay comfy! Wear something easy that can be easily removed once it’s time to put the dress on. We love a simple robe and flats!!
  • Put your phone away! Give it a good charge and assign it to one of your bridesmaids.
Your wedding day only happens once so actually be in the moment!!
  • Spend time with family! Make sure to share some extra special time with your parents and thank them for getting you here to this day! Include your mom when getting ready and share a first look moment with your dad!
  • Write a love note! Take a moment to send some love to your hubby to be. Whether it’s a card, a love letter or a simple post it, share in your excitement for when you will finally see each other later on!
  • Sing going to the chapel with your bridesmaids or watch “Father of the Bride” while getting ready!
  • And finally take a moment to reflect! You have worked so hard in all the preparations to make this day what it is. Don’t fret over the details (that’s what a planner is for wink wink) now and take it in as you make your way to the alter!
