#TipfulTuesday: From Our Thanksgiving Meal To Yours

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year to share with family & friends. A time to count your blessings in life and not the calories. This Thanksgiving we would like to share a few of our family recipes with you:

Cream Cheese Corn

  • 3 packages of frozen corn (10.8 oz bags)
  • 2 8oz packages of cream cheese (cut into cubes)
  • 1 white onion (chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt & pepper for flavoring

  1. In a medium sauce pan sauté onions and butter.
  2. Once onions are softened add in cream cheese cubes. Allow to soften for a couple of minutes.
  3. After the cream cheese has softened stir in the three bags of frozen corn. Cover with lid and  lower heat. Stir occasionally until corn has fully cooked.
  4. Stir in a dash of salt and pepper for flavoring.
  5. Once cooked remove from heat and place in serving dish.

Sweet Potato Casserole

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melt, plus more for buttering the baking dish
  • 3 cups of mashed sweet potatoes (3-4 large sweet potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla pure extract
  • 2 cups of mini marshmallows

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Place the sweet potatoes in a Dutch oven, and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes or until very tender. Drain; cool slightly.
  3. Place potatoes in a large bowl. Add sugar and next 3 ingredients (through vanilla). Mash sweet potato mixture with a potato masher. Fold in 1/4 cup pecans. Scrape potato mixture into an even layer in an 11 x 7-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup pecans; top with marshmallows. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until golden.

#TipfulTuesday: Toasting in the New Year!

We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break last week! Now with 2016 right around the corner we are excited to share a few of our favorite wedding toasts that you can recreate to ring in the new year!!!

Champagne cocktail. Take a classic and add a twist to it for a jazzed up version! We love a simple poinsettia or even a French 57!

Mimosa bar! This was a favorite for our brunch weddings this year! Have a few juices and garnishes and top with some bubbly!

Coca Cola. For those who want a different kind of bubbly to toast with, personalize a Coke glass bottle with Mr. & Mrs. or serve it a la mode style for a coke float!

His and Hers styles! Can’t narrow down to just one! Showcase your favorite duo with a his and hers drink! Its all about presentation from the glass, straws and napkins to the right garnish, your signature drink should be a reflection of your style! Now that’s worth toasting to! You can even incorporate a tasting! Introduce a collection of signature drinks with flights or wine or crafted beers or perhaps a Something New, Old, Borrowed and Blue! Your guests will have fun sampling and picking out their favorite toast!

When it comes to toasts, the drinks are endless and no rules apply here! We love a traditional champagne toast but don’t feel like you are stuck with the choice if you want to cheers with something else! Now that’s worth toasting to, cheers to the new year! #TipfulTuesday: Baby It’s Cold Outside

Winter is not only a beautiful time of year to have a wedding, but is also a beautiful time to get engaged or celebrate your upcoming wedding.

If you are celebrating your engagement or upcoming marriage around the holidays, more than likely most homes and venues have already been decorated, so décor would be very minimal.  Adding white, silver and gold creates a beautiful and soft feel that is wintery and magical. You can even carry this adorable “Baby It’s Cold Outside” theme throughout your entire party!

A hot chocolate or coffee bar is definitely a must!  Whether you have a bridal brunch or an evening engagement party, a hot chocolate bar is always a fun and festive treat!  You can mix and match mugs you already have for guests to use or have custom coffee sleeves made. Then fill different vases with goodies like marshmallows, whipped cream, peppermint, cinnamon sticks; for guests to customize their hot beverage of choice.  Milk and white chocolate dipped spoons with sprinkles or peppermint are another fun and pretty addition. We are in Love with these sugar donut holes!

Hot toddy

For an adult beverage you can add some baileys for the hot chocolate bar or create a hot toddy bar. Your guest are sure to warm up with a little “spirt” in them!

coffee mug

You could even have your guest decorate their own mug, which turns into a perfect party favor!

We hope these ideas help create a memorable engagement party or bridal shower! Tell us all about your winter celebration, follow us on Facebook @SarabethEvents or on Instagram @SarabethEvents.
